I think the boys are trying to tell us something…

Can you guess what it is???

This weekend, they hung out with their buddy, Smokey.

Adrian didn’t hesitate at all to pet Smokey or even touch his teeth!

Jer just stared in the beginning.

And then… he did the sweetest thing…

He walked right up to Smokey, turned around so his back was facing him, and plopped himself right by Smokey’s belly!

I almost cried.

If you know me, I’ve never owned a dog, nor was I around dogs growing up as a kid. I don’t hate them, I don’t mind them.

I just didn’t really “get it.”

Why do people treat their dogsΒ as they would (or even better than their own) children? Why do owners care so much for these animals? Why is the unconditional love a dog has for his/her owner truly something amazing?Β

Then I watched Marley & Me and Hachi (sob!). I listened to the hubs tell me stories of his beloved pets he previously owned. I observed my family members, friends, and co-workers who own dogs and hear their cute and crazy stories.

Not now, and not in the near future, but someday we’ll get the boys a dog.

I truly wish it could be sooner. I look back at these pictures I snapped of the boys and Smokey and my heart really does melt.

For now, we’ll have to visit Smokey a lot more often.
