Oh, nevermind. Yes, they’re mine.wpid-img_20140810_060743.jpg

Quick recap of the week… opened a ton of presents from their 1st birthday! Can’t wait to post more pictures because I sure did Pinterest-it-up!

Packing food for… daycare! The boys are eating really well. Here is miswa (hope I spelled that right), lugow, and ground pork w/ chayote. Yummy Filipino food from Lola! I plan to practice these recipes and share soon! Gotta build up that homemade baby food repertoire! wpid-img_20140810_211641.jpg

Aaaaaand to balance all the healthy goodness the boys are eating, we ate some cronuts…wpid-img_20140810_114718.jpg

And… whatever this thing was, a donut with Thai tea ice cream.wpid-img_20140809_155947.jpg

That’s all folks! Crossing my fingers I get a post up this week on breastfeeding/pumping and the boys’ 1st birthday celebration!

First Father’s Day, a Reunion, and a Few Recaps

The time has come. Keeping up the blog is now really hard for me to do. I’ve been super busy at work, planning the boys’ first birthday party (can you believe they’re turning ONE soon? I cannot), and THIS:

wpid-2014-06-13-08.49.51.jpg.jpeg

That is my high school class during our senior year. Our ten year reunion is this year! As lead of the planning committee, my days have been filled with keeping the team on track, publicizing the event, and fundraising. Whew! Thank goodness it only happens once a decade. I’ve looked forward to my ten year reunion for a long time, but now with kids, full-time work outside of the home, and a house to maintain, this sure is some task!

The hubs had an awesome first Father’s Day! It was simple and sweet. He is one proud papa!

One thing about twins you have to know is that, “If it isn’t one, it’s the other!” Here’s what I mean:

wpid-photogrid_1403277598653.jpg

It’s so hard to get both boys looking at the camera, let alone smiling. You take what you can get!

Here are the boys with my dad on Father’s Day. They love their Granpa very much! We went to a yummy Filipino restaurant in town, followed by boba at a new spot!

wpid-20140615_173251.jpg

All three of us enjoy eating so much these days! The boys are eating very well. It’s so awesome to feed them good food. I’ll add recipes I used for the boys’ food because I want other moms to realize how easy it is to prepare food at home. It’s time-consuming at first, but with great planning and organization, it benefits not only the babies, but the entire family!

wpid-20140609_183409.jpg

They are used to sitting in their high chairs and can feed themselves if I give them fruit slices (apples/pears) or their new favorite, Baby Mum Mums! Thanks, Auntie Heather, for telling us about them and thanks, Ninang/Auntie Melissa and Ate Cristina, for getting them for us!

I have so much to update, I don’t know where to begin! Let’s start with the most important for now. We’re still doing our Boba Fridays!!! The boys can’t get enough and we don’t want to deny them happiness:

We celebrated Ate Cristina’s 4th birthday earlier in the month! You may have seen on my Instagram (@sharissespieces6) a video clip of the boys enjoying one of the rides at Chuck E Cheese. Let me just say, CUTEST THING EVER!!! Here’s our family picture at one of the cool stations. How neat is this? It appears like it’s pencil-drawn:

wpid-20140610_221540.jpg

I can’t help but share the video. I love how they’re so into grabbing the steering wheel. If you look closely, Adrian’s (left) face is so adorable as he makes a “Yikes!” face!

Since I have too much to update, I’ll save them for another day and just add this picture collage. We attended my friend, Bernard’s, show last night, The Producers! It was hilarious and clever and we witnessed some amazing talent! Here we are with Carmen Ghia (“He had a stroke!” and Leo Bloom (OCD much). They were fabulous!!! I enjoy watching shows and especially love supporting our local theater. Can’t wait for the next one!

Did I ever mention Bernard has been my friends since the 1st grade? He’s also on our high school reunion planning committee. How awesome is that?!

Gosh, the countdown has already begun to the boys’ big first birthday. Looking back at how tiny they were and how big and grown they are now really tugs at my heartstrings!!! Time sure does fly.

The boys’ first 5K & my first Mother’s Day

My first Mother’s Day was lovely. I got a frame with my baby boys’ hand prints and a frame of one of my favorite pictures of us. I was so tickled that the boys “made” me something from daycare. And I love that I can see their little hand prints. I may be crafty, but I am not really into paints, so I’m glad daycare is good at that!

wpid-20140511_093422.jpg

Both frames are being displayed above my work computer! Finally some decor in that cube of mine. I also got a special journal that the hubby wrote inside and pasted pictures of the fours of us. It’ll be a tradition to fill the pages with memories each Mother’s Day and Father’s Day. Soon the boys will be able to scribble inside and write letters and draw pictures themselves!

wpid-20140511_101706.jpg

And I can’t fail to mention the gorgeous watch that the hubby got me for Mother’s Day. It’s something I”ve wanted for a long time and he delivered! Loving my new accessory:) Thanks, babe!

We celebrated at Outback Steakhouse with my family. Look who joined the grown ups’ table!!! Adrian’s first experience in a highchair:

Jer’s second time in a highchair (his first time was in Vegas):

wpid-20140511_132720.jpg

Both boys did great! We fed them puffs and they stayed calm (mostly). It was a big risk taking them to lunch at that time b/c they didn’t have much of a morning nap and the lunch coincided with their usual afternoon nap. But we always just roll with the punches and they did fine.

wpid-20140511_181143.jpg

Spend the rest of the day at Gramma’s house. Three generations right here. We are missing Mom’s mom in the picture:(

We participated in the annual Race for the Cure the day before. The boys’ first 5K! Hopefully they will enjoy running like their mama one day. My mom is a breast cancer survivor and this is one of the big events we make sure to participate in every year to support research and awareness. Here is our team… their sign is missing a letter… can you guess what it is?

wpid-20140510_084145.jpg

The boys are looking so grown and handsome. I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself the day I realize they’re not my babies anymore. Well, they’ll ALWAYS be my babies, but I know one day they will insist they aren’t!

wpid-20140510_103126.jpg wpid-20140510_094432.jpg

We were pooped at the end. Walking 3.1 miles was a little harder than we thought! Especially pushing around a big stroller!

wpid-20140510_102418.jpg

Random picture of Adrian and one of the styrofoam letters. Yes, spelling lessons are starting early!!!wpid-20140509_175659_4_bestshot.jpg

Play pen training! I miraculously found time to pick my twin book back up and read that this is a good time to get the boys used to staying in a play pen (or Pack N Play as you see here). Once they taste freedom, they will not want to be confined. So rather than wait too late, I plan to get them used to playing and hanging out in this itty bitty space. It’ll come in handy when they ARE mobile and we need them to stay put long enough for us to get some serious work done around the house and not worry about what trouble they are getting into!

wpid-20140510_131205.jpg

This is how I get stuff done:

  1. Dump laundry out onto floor.
  2. Place laundry basket in front of babies.
  3. (Literally) throw toys into the basket from behind them.
  4. Make sure babies are amused and intrigued.
  5. Quickly fold laundry.
  6. Put laundry away before they get bored.

wpid-20140512_065745.jpgThe boys ate pretty well last weekend. I fed them an odd mix of avocado, carrots, and sweet potato, which I had cooked/pureed a few weeks ago and froze. This is TMI, but later that day, I saw carrots in Adrian’s poop! I can’t tell you how excited I was. It was so cool to me that he really did eat the food and that it made its way down his system. Ok, definitely TMI.

wpid-20140512_072406.jpg wpid-20140512_072358.jpg

The boys at their nine-month check up!!! We couldn’t be more proud of the boys. They have been through SO MUCH and here they are, 18.5 lbs each, 28 inches long, and super healthy and happy! These boys used to have a long list of medications, a ton of appointments scheduled, and some issues and medical conditions that really worried us. But now, a ton of things are resolved and really they just have their helmet wearing to endure a little longer. Otherwise, their pediatrician is extremely pleased with how they’re doing and we are just so grateful.

wpid-20140512_145458.jpg

Lastly, I want to share this video clip I took of the boys playing with their toys. Hope you enjoy it. Jeremiah is shown first, followed by Adrian. I love their grunting and Adrian’s scrunching cheesy face at the end!

It takes a village and our first family picture

Here is our first family picture, taken in the NICU just before Jeremiah came home. Can’t believe how big the boys are now!

Late pictures: From the boys’ one month celebration! Click HERE for their one month update. We were a week late, but it was a MUST to celebrate the boys’ one month birthday! The nice thing about waiting a week was that it was Grandparents’ Day! It was perfect having both sets of grandparents with the boys to celebrate two special occasions.

Happy One Month, Adrian & Jeremiah!

Caught a smile!

I just wanted to write about how amazing our support system has been. It is true: It takes a village to raise a child. In our case, it must take a village X 2!!! There is no possible way we could have ever taken care of these babies on our own. My family has been such a great help, even before the babies were here and I was on strict bed rest. Not only do they come over to help care for the boys, relieving me and the hubs so we can take naps and showers or run errands, they cook and provide food for us! Whether it’s home-cooked meals, take out, or fast food, they make sure that we are fed. This has helped immensely as I even forget to eat a meal during the day. My days are such a blur even though they feel so long. It’s nice to have relief and a moment where I can just take my mind off the babies and get a breather. Of course I miss them all the time and want to be with them always, but I really think I’d go insane if I didn’t smell the roses or remember to take care of myself.

Here’s my family! Mom, dad, and sis 🙂

The hubs’ parents stayed with us for almost two weeks. They helped out a lot in caring for the boys and helping us around the house. Jing’s mom especially cooked up a storm! It was nice that the boys got to spend time with their grandparents. They’re looking forward to seeing them again soon!

A lot of family and friends have visited and it’s been wonderful having them meet the babies. We’re exhausted and can barely entertain, but I guess that’s OK! One particular visit I want to highlight is from these kiddos. I have seen these kids grow up and I can’t believe they are meeting MY babies now! By the way, Noah (left) and Naty (2nd from right) are twinsies themselves and were in our wedding!

Happy 18th, Micayla!!!!!!

We really wish we could be there for your big party. The boys love you and miss you!
