First run postpartum, golfing, & a mini-date

I did it! I went for my first run postpartum (or post-babies). Ok, it was more of a walk/jog, but I did it: I laced up, put on my favorite running shirt, and out the door I went. It was my goal to get back into running and today was the first day I could since it has been exactly 6 weeks since I gave birth. Thanks to the hubby who held the fort down and supported/pushed me to get out there. It’s been super long since my last run, so my goal was to do an easy mile. I am sad that my Garmin was out of battery and right now I don’t have a non-Apple computer to charge it and upload runs. So instead, I used my handy dandy Smartphone and quickly downloaded a running app so I could track my mileage and time. I ended up completing 1.05 miles in 15:05!

Nice evening, beautiful weather

Earlier this week, I also got back onto the golf course! It was a lot of fun playing and I didn’t do THAT bad. I need to work on concentrating… that would help me a whole lot. I tend to put pressure on myself and feel conscious of those around me. When I really relax and focus, I can actually hit a ball decently!

Today was really nice since the hubs and I got to go on a little date. His mom and dad relieved us of baby duties while we went out to get some Starbucks, eat Pho, and of course, run some errands for the babies. It’s funny because even though this date was for US, we found ourselves constantly talking about the boys during dinner. We love them way too much.

I present to you, a green monster (crazy concoction) and… SALTED CARAMEL MOCHA FRAPPUCINO! YUMMMMM…

Vermicelli bowl, Pho, and a strawberry shake 🙂 Was craving me some Pho!

Here we are:) Always keeping the love alive!

The boys each did something really cute last night during my night shift. As I brought their bottle to them, they placed a hand on the side! It was so adorable and yet bittersweet to think they are growing so fast.

And lastly… I just have to share the cute positions they put themselves in!

Well, good night, er, good nap? I think that’s what it’s called at 5 AM.

Why The Hungry Runner Girl Rocks

I can’t believe I haven’t shared this video with you yet, but it’s always better late than never. The video was part of the husband’s gift to me for Christmas 2012. Remember me sharing the other gifts he got me? 😉 Anywho, knowing I was a growing fan of The Hungry Runner Girl and that I was really getting into running last year, the husband actually contacted HRG and she was sweet enough to create this video along with awesome words of encouragement to run. Thanks again, hubby, HRG, & HRG baby for making my day!

Funny story actually – while the hubby was contacting Janae to create the video, I was actually talking to Janae via e-mail AT THE SAME TIME! I had a blogging format question for her and she was helping me out, while also just chatting it up and talking about fun random things with me back and forth in various e-mails. Little did I know (ok, I didn’t know at all), the husband was telling Janae how funny it is that I was telling him all about how Janae is so cool and I love her blog and blah blah blah, all the while he was preparing the video. I find out later from Janae herself that she found it pretty funny, too.

So, if you don’t know by now exactly WHO this Hungry Runner Girl is and WHY she is amazing, go check out her blog now! If you do, you’ll find out yet another amazing reason why she rocks. She’s doing a Garmin 10 giveaway! Go check it out and enter now – it’s super easy. This is an awesome GPS watch for tracking mileage and she is giving away a purple one, which is the newest color it comes in. Remember my pink Garmin 10? I sure love that thing and would NOT mind at all having it in purple!

See ya next time… Quick update on the bump… it is seriously growing growing growing!!! I will be back with a new bump pic and more details on how things are going. Until then, here is my “hint, hint, nudge, nudge” that you won’t want to miss some surprising news in just a few days…

Are you a fan of certain running, healthy eating, or other personal blogs? Who are your favorites?

What’s the current weather like where YOU live? Still wintery, almost spring, full-on spring?

RESULTS: Elk Grove 2013 5K Fun Run Series #1

He did it! The hubby ran his first 5K! I am so proud of him for accomplishing something he probably never though he’d ever do. I was cheesing throughout the entire (almost) race knowing that I was running w/ my hubby. I was on the fence for the longest time, debating whether or not I wanted to run the race. Part of me wanted to just curl up in bed since it would be about 30 degrees (I’m a Cali girl) and it would be super early (I never run at 8 am!) and I could think of other things (sleep) that sounded more appealing. But I am ECSTATIC that we made it out there and now the hubs has his first 5K down.
Check out our times!

To run or not to run?

The next round of Elk Grove 5K fun runs starts real soon. Race #1 is already on Saturday, Jan. 27th! The thing is, I am not sure if I want to do it. It is so cold outside and I have not been running since I’ve been sick. You know what this sounds like though? A bunch of excuses. I need to just get out there no matter how lazy or tired I am and just run like the cute little picture above says. There is a long weekend ahead (yay for the MLK holiday on Monday!). No excuses for me to get at least two good runs in this weekend. Right? Right.

RESULTS: Elk Grove 2012 5K Fun Run Series #4

This just in… I finished in 26:05 and placed first in my age division! I also had to tie my shoe sometime during mile 2. And I biked 4.8 miles on the way to the race from home (and had to bike back… whew!).

It was a super small, local race. Maybe not even 200 people? But it was a lot of fun and proceeds benefited the Elk Grove Food Bank. Always nice to help a good cause. I am so excited that I beat my goal time of a sub 30 and now I look forward to completing all four 5Ks in the series in 2013! However, I sure was POOPED afterward. I am going to stick to 5Ks for now. It is a good distance where I am not in major pain afterward and it will be fun trying to beat my time with each new race. I believe they say, “PR?” 🙂

I also want to add that Hubby is the best #1 fan in the whole wide world. He woke up to bike with me to the race, support me, and take pictures. He is even going to try and run the next 5K, too!
